DPLenticular presents latest in innovative 3D lenticular solutions at Ipex and Dimension 3

May 13, 2010 – DPLenticular, the acclaimed European leader in the supply of lenticular plastic sheets and rolls for the graphic arts industry, announces today its presence at Ipex 2010 (18 – 25 May, Birmingham) and Dimension 3 (1 – 3 June, Paris).

At Ipex, DPLenticular will team up with Fuji and Screen where its lenticular sheet for very large-format printing, the 40LPI, will be featured. KBA will print specially designed 3D transformations on the Genius 52UV waterless press, using 75 LPI and 100 LPI ‘special 3D’ LenstarTM Lenticular sheets. At Dimension 3, the meeting point for all markets involved in stereoscopic 3D (S-3D) and immersive images, DPLenticular will have its own stand (A2).

New business opportunities in 3D printing

As 3D film and TV is becoming a main focus in the media world, it generates a major boast downstream in lenticular printing, particularly 3D images which can be applied in many business and consumer applications. “This is great news for the printing industry in general as it creates new business opportunities”, Says Daniel Pierret, managing director and founder of DPLenticular. “At Ipex we will show two newly developed 3D transformations from the same image. The creation was achieved by Convergence Point, a Belgian agency specialising in point of sales communication. At the show, KBA will print this on the Genius 52UV waterless press, using 75 LPI and 100 LPI ‘special 3D’ LenstarTM Lenticular sheets. With its very short make-ready times, this innovative waterless UV press is ideally suited for lenticular printing.”

Creative possibilities for the large format and digital printing industry

Recently, the lenticular market has found new growth opportunities through the expansion of the digital printing industry. The 40 LPI lenticular sheet offers volume productions of posters in larger sizes with 3D or flip effect, offering new possibilities to the large format offset and digital flat-bed inkjet presses. It also allows the production of animated pictures using seconds of HDTV images. Daniel Pierret: “New developments in the large format and flatbed printing market have led to tremendous quality improvements, making this technology very suited for lenticular printing. This development, combined with the versatility of fast drying UV inks makes direct-to-lens flatbed lenticular printing an interesting option for many projects.”

3D prints generate a strong visual attraction

Despite the economic downturn, DPLenticular reported an increase in sales last year, supporting the fact that printers, agencies and advertisers around the world are increasingly looking for more creative ways to communicate products and services to their target audiences. Especially on the shelves in the supermarket, in displays, give-aways and direct mail applications, 3D prints stand out and generates a strong visual attraction and buying impulse. “Ipex 2010 and Dimension 3 provide us with a gateway to a large number of potential contacts and we expect valuable networking opportunities at the show. Our presence at these renowned European events is also a testimony to the constant success and increasing interest we have experienced in the lenticular promotional and point of sale production industry since establishing the company in 2001.”
